Adaptive Optical Wireless Networks: End-to-End Link Delay Optimization

چکیده
Wireless communications offer an attractive option for many military, commercial as well as personal communication needs because of flexibility, cost effectiveness, and mobility. The quality features of wireless communications have led to tremendous growth in the demand for wireless networks and has led to development of novel technologies that raise the need for broadband wireless communications. Optical wireless systems offer high transmission rates that can accommodate these broadband needs. However, optical wireless links can be prone to atmospheric changes that can result in performance degradation. Therefore, optical wireless networks should have flexible links and must be adaptive. In this paper, we focus on the adaptability of optical wireless networks and propose new heuristics for the optimization of communication delay in a flexible link regime for networks with bounded and unbounded degree transceivers. Extensive simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed heuristics to validate the improvement in network functionality as compared to the inadaptable environment. Simulation results show that networks adopting proposed heuristics achieve a 50% reduction in average packet delay as compared to inadaptable networks.

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

Today, the use of wireless and intelligent networks are widely used in many fields such as information technology and networking. There are several types of these networks that MPLS networks are one of these types. However, in MPLS networks there are issues and problems in the design and implementation discussion, for example security, throughput, losses, power consumption and so on. Basically,...
متن کاملEnergy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization
Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
متن کاملAsymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks
This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...
متن کاملAn adaptive framework for QoS routing through multiple paths in ad hoc wireless networks
We propose an adaptive framework for computing multiple paths in temporal and spatial domains to transmit a large volume of data packets from a source s to a destination d in ad hoc wireless networks. The objective is to achieve quality of service (QoS) by minimizing end-to-end delay for packet delivery. We consider two aspects in this framework. The first aspect is to perform preemptive route ...
